XMiL Songster lets you drag sound files onto the application
in the finder or onto a floating window. It will then automatically generate
an XML document containing the most useful metadata available in the files'
ID3 tags, such as the song's composer, artist and album. The XML document
is sent straight into Final Cut where the sound files appear as clips, connected
to the media, with the metadata entered in user-selected columns, ready to
be cut into your show.
A
short video demonstration of XMiL Songster is available here.
- It saves time and energy used to re-type information into FCP columns that is in the computer already.
- Get exactly the same metadata information into Final Cut Pro that is available in iTunes.
- No need to cross-reference information across applications when making music usage lists.
XMiL Songster needs iTunes installed on the same machine. It has been tested with Final Cut Pro version 6.0.2 under Mac OS 10.4.11 and 10.5.2. It will not work under any version of OS 10.3 or earlier.
For the swiftest workflow the sound files should already have been copied to their final destination, i.e. to a drive that will be used with Final Cut Pro. Thus relinking the clips to the media can be avoided.
To use XMiL Songster without limitations you will need a license. That license will be tied to one specific computer, and will not work on any other computer. One license will be good for all users of the computer. You can purchase the license via PayPal on the Download page.
For a detailed description of the application go to the XMiL Songster User Manual page.
